BBM is part of your phone's OS and cannot be deleted. You can do a couple of things so it isn't as prominent on your phone. First, press and hold the BBM icon until it pulsates. You can then drag it until it covers another icon you don't use and release your finger. Your phone will ask if you wish to make a folder for these icons and you can then name it something like 'Junk' and not have to see the icon anymore.
After that you can open your Hub, press the three dots in the lower right and select Settings>Hub Management then Rearrange and put BBM at the bottom of your list.
Finally, swipe down from the top of your homescreen and select Settings>Notifications>Applications>BBM and put All Alerts to OFF.
I hope that helps you.

You don't want to delete it. Many apps use BBM-connected and will ask you for connection to BBM before processing the first time start of the application. Do what BillJ said and just move it out of the way.
