Trying to get first name and last name for an AD user

I'm trying to use a BES API and I'm missing the first name and last name properties - MBB seems to use "display name" only, but this is rather messy since just about any other system uses first + last name separately. And no - I CANNOT just take everything before the first space as first name - imagine someone like Miguel Francisco de Icaza (or whatever) - that just won't work, there are just too many exceptions to that rule.

So we're trying to map the "givenName" and "sn" attributes from AD, but somehow, it seems, BES 10 doesn't really surface those all the way back to the caller of "getUsersDetails" - I still only get the <displayName> back ......

What magic do we need to apply to get MBB / BES 10 to fetch the "givenName" (first name) and "sn" (surname = last name) from AD and return those, instead of just the display name ??

Re: Trying to get first name and last name for an AD user

What appears in the fields for firstName and lastName for the GetUsersDetailIndividualResponse?

I don't get any values for <firstName> or <lastName> - the XML elements are missing entirely, I only get <displayName> (when testing with SoapUI 4.5.2)

Do those elements exist in your proxy definition? Which version of BES are you running against?

Re: Trying to get first name and last name for an AD user

How can I check that?

Versions: from "getSystemInfo", I get back

        <properties>
            <name>BWS Version</name>
            <value>10.1.1.20</value>
         </properties>
         <properties>
            <name>BAS Version</name>
            <value>10.1.1.20</value>
         </properties>

Re: Trying to get first name and last name for an AD user

That version should support the values, according to the API docs anyways. I checked with our internal dev team after reproducing the issue myself and they were unable to actually locate the first or last name values stored in the BAS or the BES DB, so it could be that these fields were added prior to the back-end supporting them.

If you'd like to log a bug I can tie it to the internal issue tracker item to keep you updated of what comes out of the investigation. As of right now it looks like this is not supported, so there is no "good" way of grabbing these values from BWS today.

Re: Trying to get first name and last name for an AD user

I'll grab it shortly.

And the last one was not a bug, as mentioned when it was rejetced. Feature requests need to be filed separately.
