Code Signing

Im sorry if this has been asked before, or I am in the wrong forum. I have read the A60 doc and am still unclear about the whole sigining procedure.

It says that if I want to use certain APIs I need to spend 20 bucks and get a key from RIM. Fine, is this a one time deal, or everytime I introduce more and more APIs, I gotta shell out more cash (not including the encription ones listed at the bottom of that document).

Im in the process of deciding between a BB and an Android device, just to start some mobile development, and probably just load and use the applications on my own device.

Is this fee per application, per developer, per API call?

Thanks

Re: Code Signing

Your one signing key is good for someting like 2 million signings.  Smiley Happy

Re: Code Signing

Hi,

I believe it's a one time fee, and as the previous poster said you can sign about 2 million .cod files.

You will not have to shell out more cash to introduce more and more APIs as far as I know. (I haven't at this point in time.)

Re: Code Signing

Thank you, so it can be used ~2 million times, regardless of project...I can use the same key to sign a hello world app that will write to a text file, and then create a whole new app that uses completley different API calls and run both on my BB.

Sorry for the annoying questions, but Im pressed on puchasing a new phone and this will be the deciding factor more than anything else so I want to be crystal clear.

Re: Code Signing

Yes. You can pretty much use that signing key the rest of your life, unless you're planning on creating a whole lot of applications.
