Playbook app how to test sandbox account

I have an application that has been submitted and approved by RIM. It is waiting for me to click "post for sale".  I would like to test downloading and installing it from AppWorld before mkaing it available to the public.  I have seen a few things mentioned on here that do not seem to apply to the PlayBook at all. It is so frustrating that I cannot find any documentation on this stuff.

1) Alt + T,S,T + SKU from with the AppWorld app - Nope!.... The PlayBook has NO Alt key.

2) Submit app as a "draft" and download from AppWorld using sandbox. No where in the submission process was I asked if the app was a draft. Since my app is still sitting at "approved" but I have not clicked "post for sale" How do I get it to appear in App World so that I can test the download and install??

Thanks for your help. I thing the idea with some of this stuff seems to be to make it as hard and complicated as possible in order to keep out the rif-raf Smiley Happy

Re: Playbook app how to test sandbox account

These sorts of things seem to apply to the phones, not the PlayBook. As best I can tell, there is no way to test a PlayBook app download from App World without first posting it for sale, for now.

Presumably they will improve things in this area at some future time but have said nothing about it.

On the plus side, there are very few things that can go wrong to make an app run incorrectly once it's up in App World, provided you've tested adequately before submitting.

One mistake rookies (and experienced folks) make too often is not testing a fresh install, after removing all code and data from earlier tests.

They've also now pretty much fixed the problem whereby people could submit apps that were improperly signed, so that's one less possible issue to deal with.

Re: Playbook app how to test sandbox account

You can do this on the PlayBook, but it is a little more involved. However, there is a bug that does not allow anyone to do this. It worked OK a couple of weeks ago. RIM is aware of the issue, and will let us know when this can be done again.

Wow... when did this get supported? More importantly, when did we first get told about it (and where was I)? :-)

It has been since 2.0 (I believe). Guess you do not keep up on the forums ;-). Does not matter right now, its broken. I've been trying to test in-app purchases (which also seems broken).

See the last section of this article for the TST approach:

https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/air/documentation/ww_air_services/testing_your_application_air_m...

There seem to be a couple of bugs, such as having to focus on  the background in App World. See this post and the rest of the thread:

And as jtegen mentioned, it appears to be malfunctioning now.

Re: Playbook app how to test sandbox account

It was working for me yesterday. You just need to make certain App World has focus by selecting on the bar along the bottom before you type 'tst'. Leave App World open, then go to the browser. There is a ticket TABLET-540 and TABLET-541 that you can vote on to make beta testing a lot easier.

Does sandboxing really work?  Following the instructions (tst + other stuff), I see the draft version in the Details page but the bundle that got installed is the live one.
