The following is a list of required items for successfully submitting your application to the BlackBerry World:
The application name can not contain any special characters such as ® or ™. Standard American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) characters are recommended.
Application icon or logo
The application icon or logo should be 480 x 480 pixels in size and a PNG file type. This image will be used in the BlackBerry World client to advertise and identify your application to BlackBerry smartphone users.
Select a category within the BlackBerry World storefront for where your application will be placed. It is possible to choose only one category. The following is the list of possible categories:
Maps & Navigation
Music & Videos
News & Weather
Personal Finance & Banking
Personal Health & Wellness
Productivity & Utilities
Professional & Business
Reference & eBooks
Social Networking & Sharing
Sports & Recreation
The following are the possible license types:
Try & Buy
Note: Paid and Try & Buy license types require the Digital River® License Agreement to be accepted.
You must provide a plain text description of your application describing its features, functionality, and so on. Currently, English is the supported language.
Wireless service providers
You must decide which wireless service providers your application will be available to. Currently, only wireless service providers in the supported countries are available.
You can choose where your application should be distributed. Currently, the supported regions are: Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Luxembourg, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil*, Venezuela*, Mexico*, Chile*, and Argentina*.
Note: *Initial launch of free applications only.
Any numbering scheme may be used to version your application. You must have one release for each version. If you are using the Try & Buy license type and the Static License Model, you are required to have a minimum of two releases, one for trial COD files and one for full version COD files.
Any naming scheme can be used to name your application. The minimum supported BlackBerry® Device Software for each bundle should correctly reflect the lowest supported BlackBerry smartphone for that bundle.
For example, a bundle only supports the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8900 smartphone. In this case, the minimum BlackBerry Device Software should be set to version 4.6.1. If the bundle supports all BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.5 and later, the minimum BlackBerry Device Software should be set to version 4.5.0.
Although screenshots are not required, they are highly recommended. The following is a list of requirements for screenshots:
A maximum of 640 x 640 pixels in size
GIF, JPG, or PNG file types only
A maximum of 16 screenshots can be uploaded per application
