Short description, I'm the only one with 50 characters, why?

Hi,

can you tell me why on the app world I'm the only one with a short description of 50 character when other software

displays a much longer description?

Re: Short description, I'm the only one with 50 characters, why?

You're not the only one, I expect. I believe at least one of mine does. For the one I submitted most recently, I filled in the new short description field, which is only 50 characters. The older one was submitted before that field ever existed, so the "short" description is merely pulled from the first paragraph in the long description, truncated with an ellipsis "..." at the end. See http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/vendor/5916?lang=en to compare.

So, was your app a recent submission? If not, I expect you simply used a fairly short first paragraph in your long description, and App World just stops when it hits the first paragraph break.

Yes mine is a recent submission but this isn't fair at all.

Re: Short description, I'm the only one with 50 characters, why?

I would have guessed that if you didn't fill out the 50 character "short" description field, they would for now continue to pull the first paragraph from the long description as they did before. Did you leave that field blank, and yet they've cut the long one off at only 50 characters?

If that happened, agree that's a bit "rude" of them to do for new submissions, in the transition between the two.

I don't want to try to leave the field blank, is there a way to know it for sure without needing to try?

Presumably only if someone else who knows, answers. I'd just try it as an experiment. Not going to be a big problem if it doesn't work... so you've got no short description for an hour or two.

If you haven't supplied a 50 character description, then we grab the first 50 characters +/- from your existing description.

Re: Short description, I'm the only one with 50 characters, why?

Is this 50 characters +/-?

completely not fair, I will remove my short description and I want a description as long as this software.

They are 222characters not 50+/-

can you confirm me that if I remove my short description you will give me 222characters from my long description?
