IMO the life-cycle of mobile app (even if you constantly push upgrades) is 6-10 months, after that it just dies.
I don't agree, it depends on the apps, I started selling my apps when JavaME was a glorious platform until today.

One issue with apps that you have not updated in a while is that the list of supported devices will grow stale. Newer devices don't seem to be supported by default: you have to edit the release and add them manually. Over time, the older supported devices will cease to be used as people upgrade to newer models. If you don't edit your releases to include the new models, you should expect sales to drop over time as fewer users will see your app.
Almost all my paid app sales come from users of OS 5 and 6 these days. The market shifts quickly.
This is really important but what do you mean?
I selected that my apps are fine on OS 4.2 or later, how can I edit my releases to include new models?

I meant that you need to add specific models as well. When you go into edit releases (the pen icon), you can edit each release submission's supported devices list. Once you select a specific release, go to the Add Release Version tab (even though you want to edit an existing release). Click on the pen icon in the device support column. If you had not edited this in a while, you're likely to see some models not selected, even if you intended to support all models.

Are you sure of what you are saying?
My last release was uploaded on january 2011, I selected OS 4.2 or higher, without modifying anything from january, this is the list of supported phone:
I think that no one is excluded.

All possible devices at the moment are 50
Those are missing from your list:

Ok,. I have added the devices.
THANKS A BILLION!
But why things works in this way?
I selected that my software works on every blackberry from OS 4.2 and later, touch and non touch, why should I manually add devices?
How can I know when a new devices is ready to be added?

I have added the missing devices to all apps, all apps get this change as I can see from the app world site,
but one app continue to not show all supported phones, why?

ok it tooked three days before seeing all the supported devices correctly listed.
can't understood why I need to manually add devices now.
is there a way to be informed on when should I add new devices?

RIM's methods are a mystery to me, and always take me by surprise.
There is something else I noticed recently that affects distribution. Specifically, I noticed that all my apps were supported in all countries except: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE. That was strange, because I had never limited my apps' distribution. I quickly changed the distribution (the Distribution tab) to "all countries".
A new app that I recently submitted for approval shows "all countries", as it should be. I don't know why some of my old apps should be so restricted. Anyway, in addition to your supported devices list I suggest you also check your supported countries list.
