Where to start with app development.

I have to develop and app for blackberry. I searched the forums there seems to be lot of resources available and I am not sure where to start.

I need the experts help to point me to the right resource to start.

I am looking for to develop an background process which captures gps coordinates and sends it to mysql server. So I need information on API to get GPS coordinates and information on how to send data to mysql server.

Thanks in advance.
