BBM contacts showing in contacts but not in hub

Hi,

I've added contacts with bbm ids and pins to my contacts but in the hub I can't access them they don't show up in the search?

You have to use bbm, I think that just shows search for chats.

Re: BBM contacts showing in contacts but not in hub

So are you saying I have to have started a chat in the BBM app in order to see that contact in the hub next time to start a chat? Doesn't that seem a bit **bleep**?

To start a BBM chat from the hub:

Click the compose icon, then choose BBM. At this point you will be taken to your list of contacts.. which is searchable. Smiley Wink

Thanks but didn't help, empty list still search returns nothing.

Everything else works, twitter contacts show up for hub twitter action, email contacts show up for email action, etc.

Just doesn't find BBM contacts with ID or pin in them.

Re: BBM contacts showing in contacts but not in hub

Have you added the contacts in the bbm app, or only in the contacts app?

You need to add them to the bbm app just the same as you need to add people to twitter and Facebook directly.

Sorry this is wrong as well.

Firstly there is no add contact in the BBM app???

All I did for twitter and facebook was set my accounts up in settings I haven't even run the apps separately.

The only difference between these is that the facebook and twitter contacts were pulled in automatically, while for the BBM contacts I put them in myself or added the id/pin to an existing contact through the contacts app.

Can someone confirm that updating a contact with an id or pin then makes that contact show up in the hub bbm contact list?

Because it definately doesn't happen for me.

No, I am 99% certain that you cannot add contacts to BBM any other way than:

Opening the BBM app, clicking the overflow menu (••• vertically) and choosing 'invite to BBM', enter an email address (or a PIN I believe) and click send.

Unless you already have BBM contacts registered to your BlackBerry ID in another version of bbm then they should automatically show up if they are linked to your bbid.

Re: BBM contacts showing in contacts but not in hub

Well if that's the case then there's another bug in the BBM app as all I get is an 'Invite to BBM' menu option definitely no 'add contact' option.

I don't understand how the hub can pull in facebook, twitter and email when I ask for contacts but not the bbm ones.

It's either a bug or a serious omission.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Re: BBM contacts showing in contacts but not in hub

I don't think this sounds like a bug, it all works fine on my end.

When you open your BBM APP (not the hub) do you have any contacts listed under the contacts listing? push the icon on the lower left (three lines) and select contacts

If not, then you don't have any blackberry contacts for the contact list to pull in.

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc simply pulled in the contacts that were already created in twitter, Facebook linked in, etc and linked them together in your contacts app. You still had to setup all of those contacts at some point in the past in each of those apps websites. You have to do the same with BBM.. setup the contacts, the they will link to the contacts app.
