Just picked up my new Z10 and have spent hours setting it up - cannot add my cogeco email account even trying the advanced options and all the recommended fixes I could find online - anyone been successful? Please help

I finally figured it out.. THe steps are;
after add account, at the bottom is "advanced" - press that - the go under POP
username: the field before @cogeco.ca
email address. firstname.lastname@example.org
Password: your email password for cogeco
Server Address: pop3.cogeco.ca
Use SSL : turn off
SMTP user name ; leave blank - or clear it out .
PW: leave blank
SMTP Server: smtp.cogeco.ca
SMTP Port: 25
SMTP encryption: turn it off
Press "DONE" at the top and you should be good to go hope it works

This solution doesn't work for me.
I've tried a multitude of combinations; "pop", "pop3", and SMTP. I used the same settings as on my BB Torch and playbook. Is this a Cogeco or Blackberry problem?

My problem solved. I was using my cogeco smtp as setup on my network.
I used my carrier, "Telus" smtp to solve the issue. so... smtp.telus.net

This worked perfectly. I too have spent many hours trying to get my cogeco mail account set up.
The real issue was the 2 fields associated with the SMTP settings that led me to believe that I needed a user name and password - nope!

THANK YOU!!! Just picked up my new phone last night and after a few attempts at setting this up this morning I decided to check this forum. Your insturctions were great, it worked. You saved me a ton of time.

When you use smtp.cogeco.ca as you outgoing mail server you are only allowed to send while connected to Cogeco's network. So it will only work over wifi when you are connected to a router that is on cogeco's network.
The opposite is true when connected to smtp.telus.net. This outgoing mail server only allows connections when connected to your carrier (Telus).
This is because both of these outgoing mail servers are not authenticated (they don't require you to put in a username/password). They are basicaly an open-relay while you are connected to their networks.
