Cannot Update my software

I have bought my BBZ10 from Canada, Toronto. It was a locked Rogers phone which i got it unlocked in Canada.

Now i am back home in India and everything is working fine except i cannot download Whatsapp as it asks for a latest software. Which has led to another issue that i cannot update the software and am stuck with the which was the default software. When i try to update the software its says latest software already updated. Also i tried removing the SIM card and turning the Location services off but to no avail. I guess my only option now is to take it to a BB dealer here in Mumbai, India who would obviously do it for a cost. My only concern is that everytime there will be an update will i be able to do it myself or would be dependent on this professional and keep paying all the time. I hope it has nothing to do with getting the phone unlocked. Advice pls.

The BlackBerry Z10 Smartphone updates should be based off the Wireless Service Provider of the SIM in the BlackBerry as long as that Wireless Service Provider has software available for that device. Can you please clarify what Wireless Service Provider you are using for the BlackBerry Z10 in India?


Also, you can try reloading the BlackBerry Z10 device software through BlackBerry Link which may provide the update required to use the WhatsApp application. Please remember to backup your data before performing any software update. Once your data has been backed up, perform a reload in BlackBerry Link:


  1. Open BlackBerry Link.
  2. Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone via USB.
  3. At the bottom of the BlackBerry Link window, click the computer tab.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Under Reload Device Software, select Reload.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Thanks for the reply. I have managed o update my software by removing the SIM, doing the reload software.

BTW i am using tata docomo as my service provider.

i also had one more query, my BIS + BES plan is still active, so should  go for the GPRS plan or i can continue with this plan, as my data network is pretty bad, as it remains on for only a coupple of hours in a day and i have to switch off the mobile data and switch it on to really make it work.
