Cannot backup my Z10 using Link (or anything else)

Hi there,

 

My Z10 (and this is the second Z10 handheld to do this) will not communicate with Link via USB. I can connect over WiFi just fine, and the phone can be used as a mass storage device over USB, but Link will not recognize it and says "Cannot communicate with device". Therefore, I cannot do a complete back up of my device. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Link, tried different USB cables, tried to "roll back the driver" (it won't let me do that).... 

 

Please help!

Hello harp3rian and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

 

Sorry to hear you're having an issue with your device.

 

Are you using Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac? What version of the OS are you using?

 

What's your version of BlackBerry Link? 

 

Remove the battery from your device to restart it and reboot your computer. After both have completed the reboot, connect the USB cord and connect your device to the computer.

 

Does the device now detect within Link?

I am using windows 8, and Link version 1.1.0.37. 

 

And no, that does not fix it.
