I have learned a lot lately from reading what others have posted. I thought I would weigh in to see if someone has come up with a fix as I am tired of banging my head.
I am a long time bb user. My latest bb was a 9300. I gave it up a month ago when my contract expired, but thanks to regular backups, managed to upload all data onto an old 8830 I had kicking around in anticipation of when I could get a Z10. Well that day came about a week ago and I have been enjoying a love/hate relationship with my Z10 ever since.
Yes, it is snazzy and I do love the hub. However, I miss when my alarm was actually an alarm that I could set to wake me up. What gives? Why call it an alarm if it is really a reminder?! While on the subject of reminders, I see this was supposed to replace memopad and tasks. Well it doesn't. I can't get my 818 memos into it in any kind of meaningful way and so goes years of me taking notes pertinent to so many details of my work and personal life. Similarly, all notes functionality in my contacts got massacred and now I have a chore to go through my 1200 files for the 400 contacts that actually exist and parse together what got scattered apart. Ugh.
I am carrying 2 phones: one for contact and one for data. So ridiculous.
Is there any chance a fix is coming down the pipe that would solve the whole contacts, notes, tasks, alarm, make it easier to import the stuff already generated on a previous bb? Basically bring back the stuff that made the blackberry the business tool it is known to be?
I really do love my blackberry, just not the many late nights I have wasted trying to synch it with my data.

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the questions.
The alarm is available on the BlackBerry Z10, swipe from the top down to go into bedside mode and you can set an alarm on this screen.
With regards to data migration, I would suggest checking out this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33322
Please note that this is only supported for BlackBerry Device software 5.0 and above. Which can be the reason why you're recieving the trouble from having the data on the BlackBerry 8830 smartphone.
I would suggest transferring the data to a different replacement BlackBerry smartphone and then do the migration (this would be only for memos and tasks). You can also wirelessly synchronize your address book and calendar through Gmail, Yahoo! and ActiveSync email accounts.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
