I deleted the Skype app by accident - went to BB World and downloaded the Skype app - it downloaded and commenced installing 75% through the message appeared Error Installing Application
The Skype app appear but never initiallised - I deleted it - shut down the Z10 and restarted and tried again only to see the same result
I would appreciate learning what i need to do to have Skype installed again please

I suggest that you clear the AppWorld application cache.

I followed your instructions and then downloaded SKYPE through BBWorld : it downloaded, Installing asked for permissions clicked Accept : Error installing application
Looked under BBWorld app was listed under installed clicked open : accept permissions : Initialising Please wait ...
Does not open
Do you have another solution

Thank you for prompt reply. I followed adove instructions. Unfortunately Skype downloads and installs but when I go to Open this App it ask for Permissions I click Accept then it shows InItialising Please wait - then the screen reverts back to BBWorld - is there a problem with permissions ?? or what is Initialising ??
I downloaded another app from BBWorld and there was no problem
Is there another App similar to Skype that I could download ??

On thinking about your first scenario I now think that is correct. I would have downloaded the Skype App awhile ago prior to us going overseas - did not open it to see that it actually worked - but we also took our laptop and used skype on it rather than Z10. In last few days there was an update came through and I went ahead installing update and the red line appeared indicating Error - on hindinsight I now do nt think that Skype was ever installed correctly. Because the error appear I have deleted all trace of Skype
The Z10 is personal but setup to receive both private and business emails
If there is something else within the Z10 that needs attention please advise
I have downloaded WeChat to see if that is similar to Skype
If I cannot for some reason have Skype downloaded and working on Z10 do you know of a similar or better App that I should installed - I was only needing free calls and to be able to physical talk to the person that i phoned

So now I am a little more unsure...when, exactly, does the error present? During the installation process via BBWorld? Of after when attempting to launch the app?
I was able, on my Z30 (10.2.1.3175), to successfully install Skype, but I did not actually launch it. On my Z10 (10.2.1.2234), I also can successfully install Skype from BBWorld, and on this device I did actually launch it successfully, but only to the point where it wants me to provide login credentials.
And, just to be clear on the process:
At that point, the app is fully installed to the device.
So, if this error presents to you during install, I have now successfully gotten past that, and something about your device is preventing it. What OS level is your Z10 on? If it's older than mine, then I recommend updating your OS -- app compatibility has improved as the OS has evolved.
As for company versus personal...just to be clear, you don't have "work" and "personal" "spaces" on your device. You have no selections for that anywhere, right? That's how you tell if your device is associated to a BES environment, and if it is that BES IT Policy could be what is blocking this. Further, you can check on an IT Policy via this procedure:
If there is an IT Policy and you are part of a BES environment, then you should talk to your BES admins about if perhaps they are blocking this.
As for alternatives, if it's BB to BB, then BBM voice/video would be the way to go. If it's to non-BB, then once (if) they roll out BBM voice/video for non-BB platforms, that could be a way to go. I haven't yet tried out Google Hangouts on BB10 yet, but I actually prefer that video chat service over Skype (but, I admit that I've not used Skype in a few years now, so perhaps it's improved over what problems it used to have).

My Z10 has Software Release 10.2.1.2941 and OS Version 10.2.1.3175
Followed instructions re IT Policy Settings, About, Category dropdown box only see : General, Hardware, OS, Network, Sim Card, Legal, Regulatory Approvals, Device name.- no Blackberry Balance showing
In BBWorld click Skype and it downloads : the bar is blue and goes all the way accross. During install process about halfway stops and asks to Accept - click accept - and then the bar still blue keeps moving but at about 75% over it turns Red : Error installing application. Under Installed applications in BBW the Skype logo is there click the Open button and asks to Accept click and immediately shows Initialising please wait. Then it reverts to BBW catag screen. Unfortunately it does not launch
Hopefully my detail about will assist you in identifying the problem
