Help! Touch screen not responding...

Hi everyone!

(Cue the violin)This morning my dear Blackberry and I had a little coffee incident. The coffee wasnt poured on it but merely sprinkled and even if I covered it imediately with papaer towels and dried everything the touch screen ids now not responding. I was able to text for a minute and thought it was okay but later on I tried to swipe and unlock the screen but it didn't work. It turns on and off and i can see everything but the touch screen still doesn't work. I have tried to reboot numerous times, hooked it with Blackberry link and checked the screen reader wasn't on to no avail.
It is now sitting in a nice bag of rice. Nedless I am devastated and open to any suggestion to make it work again, especially if it could save me a call to Verizon customer service!

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Help! Touch screen not responding...

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Timing was crucial...immediately removing your battery and doing the rice trick was necessary...what you did trying to use it may well have doomed it. But, there is no way to predict. For reference, here is the relevant FAQ:

Do everything it says, including waiting the maximum recommended time (perhaps longer...perhaps 5 days). Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.

Good luck!
