I had a blackberry Z10 (unlocked version) that was faulty and it was replaced with another blackberry Z10 (also unlocked). Because the OS versions are different, i cannot restore my contacts from the former one into the new one. Blackberry said this is due to the difference in OS versions. I downloaded an app from bb world that imports/exports contacts but can only import text or vcf files and not bbb files. I downloaded blackberry backup extractor but was disapointed to see that BB 10 backups are not supported yet. Please i need help with transfering my old contacts from my old bb z10 unto my new bb z10. i use a windows 8 hp laptop.

So I guess you never backed up your phone using BlackBerry Protect, or did you.
If you did you can install your contacts from there.
If you did not, think about doing it for next time.
Read all this page, it is not much to read: http://worldwide.blackberry.com/ap/protect/
If you never enabled BB Protect you should. Go to: Settings, BlackBerry Protect, Turn On and you need to turn On Location Services also.
