i get the error, the image is attached.
even though the device is connected, it keep ask me to conect the device, i removed and connected again
i can see bottom right the device is recognized and the application still shows not connected

Hello balajibhr and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you're having an issue transferring your data.
To clarify, you used Link to back up your Bold 9780 and are unable to restore that file to your Z10 using the Switch Device option?
Are you using Windows? If so, what is your Windows version? Are you using a laptop or a desktop?
If you were to launch Link and connect your Z10 does it connect to Link or give you an error?

Had the same problem. When Link asks me to connect the old phone (Bby 9800) it says it doesn't recognize it.
As far as I can tell (I'm a 30-year IT Pro), Link just plain doesn't work.
Windows 7 on an ASUS B43S commercial-grade i5 laptop. All I've installed is the O/S, minimal ASUS-supplied drivers (no bloatware), and Office 2010 Pro.
I've seen elsewhere on these forums that connecting phone to phone by Bluetooth allows for contacts transfer. Is this true?

Hi that's actually a nice workaround and easy, just pair the devices, then on the old OS go to options>networks and connections>bluetooth>highlight the z10 on the paired devices>press the menu key and hit transfer contacts. I hope this can help you.
