Notifications with headphones plugged in

So while I am at work, I have headphones plugged in all the time so I can listen to music. I noticed sometimes I miss notifications - no sound, vibrate or LED. Also, if I do get the notification the volume is so low I can barely hear it over the music playing. The only reason I notice it is because the z10 automatically lowers the music volume and I can hear the music getting quieter then louder. Anyone else have this issue? You would think the music player would just pause the music, sound the notification through the headphones, and then resume playback.

Re: Notifications with headphones plugged in

Hello twstd_reality and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

What is your current volume setting for your notifications? If you don't have music playing is the tone loud or quiet?

If you turn your notifications to silent, when listening to music you won't be notified of an incoming message. If you leave your notifications on to play a sound, the music should fade out then back in again to alert you to the message.

To clarify, you leave your notifications to always play a sound but aren't getting any sort of notification for an incoming message?

Thanks!

Hi hmthepirate and thanks! To answer your questions:

- current volume is around 75% and yes notifications are nice and loud when no music is playing.

- the phone is never on silent. Ive actually set all notifications to sound with vibrate and led. The music does fade in and out, but no notification is heard, or its barely audible. Are you saying the fade in / fade out of music is the notification?

- yes and no. It's intermittent. My Sound is always set to normal. Sometimes i hear the notification fine and i see the led on. Sometimes i dont hear anything except the music fading but i see the led on. Sometimes i hear the notification but the led doesnt come on. Sometimes, i only hear the fade and nothing else. All this while im listening to music. No music playing with headphones and everything works as it should.

Re: Notifications with headphones plugged in

If you were to remove the ear phones and listen to the music through your speaker, does the notification tone sound? Does the LED illuminate?

The music should briefly fade in/out to alert you to the notification but it will not pause.

If you were to play a video, does the same thing happen?

Re: Notifications with headphones plugged in

Yes, notification sounds and led goes off. But, the notification sound is barely audible. The music fades but not enough. If im not paying attention i will miss the notification. My music volume is always close to max. Same for playing video. Ive only had the phone at work for a couple days. So i will pay more attention during this work week. But there is definitely something not right with the notifications.

Re: Notifications with headphones plugged in

We would need to analyze logs to further investigate this issue.

Contact your mobile carrier and ask they open a support ticket with BlackBerry Support.

Thanks!

Thanks, but is there another way besides contacting my carrier?

Re: Notifications with headphones plugged in

You can call BlackBerry directly at 1-877-255-2377 but there would be incident based fee support. Your mobile carrier can open a ticket for you.

Thanks!
