Only native BB apps work after update to 10.1.0.4200

I have been trying everything I can think of to get my non-native apps to work again after I let BlackBerry Link update my software. For two weeks I have been pulling the battery, wiping the phone, loading old backups, booting without a SIM or microSD card... nothing works. Am I the only one having this problem?

The two apps I miss the most are Waze for GPS and AP for news. If I click on either one, it won't launch. Either the icon goes grey for a couple of seconds and then back, or the screen goes black with a blue wait bar at the bottom that never finishes.

Is there a way to go back to an old version of the OS that was working well?

There is an update to the android runtime, go in BlackBerry World look for android runtime, install it and then reboot and the android program will be running much better with it

Thanks for that suggestion Martin. I think that would work, except that I cannot get the update to android runtime. Maybe T-mobile has not released it yet. I searched BlackBerry World for "android", "runtime" and "android runtime", with no success.
Does anybody know another way to get this android runtime update?

UPDATE: I checked with T-Mobile, and their BB 10 specialist Peter told me that the problem is the following: the developers of the  Waze app and the others I tried have not updated their apps since the new Z10 OS version came out. Judging from the Waze website, they have abandoned support for BlackBerry altogether. The most useful app on my phone is gone for good. Smiley Sad

 

Peter said there is no way to downgrade the OS to the version that worked with Waze (so beware when you allow an OS update!) Peter also said that the android runtime is not available for my device. Oh, and none of my side-loaded applications work on my phone anymore either. After just 6 months with this work phone, I am wishing I insisted on an Android phone instead.

 

Correction: The first three non-native apps I tried would not open, but since then, I have found other non-native apps that work fine.

For the runtime, go to BlackBerry World, and search for BLACKBERRY RUNTIME FOR ANDROID, install it and you will get the latest runtim available
