We have a temorary fix. I spoke with BlackBerry for an hour this morning and it seems that there is a problem between the secure SMTP servers at Network Solutions, Shaw Cable & Rogers. Here is the solution for now. Set your smtp server to smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com port 25 now here is the tricky part when you are on your wifi you have to shut it off to send mail then turn it back on then when you are out on the road you will be fine becasue it will send through your wireless.

The problem is a bug in recent software releases for the Z10. This has been discussed and verified in numerous discussion threads both here and on Crackberry.com.

It's because they probably turned off authentication, which is why it won't work through wifi.
Unauthenticated SMTP via wifi is a bad idea, if would allow massive abuse by spammers.
The issue seems to be more troublesome when authentication is turned on, but in general the Z10 SMTP module is screwed-up and mangles the email headers in more than one way, from what I can tell.
I'm glad your workaround is helping, in any case.

100% reproducable on Qmail servers.
I was so thrilled by the new generation of BB's, but without proper SMTP-support they're simply useless.
It's a shame that it takes so long to publish a patch having in mind that SMTP, is of the most mature protokolls out there.

same with me folks. pop was ok but no go with smtp. bb support found a lame workaround or told me to find another provider. it is a problem with the z10 smtp and not my provider. i never had any problems prior to the z10 and so it is a z10 problem. a workaround isn't a fix.

I also have this problem.
The workaround is a well-intentioned, but nevertheless bad idea.
BlackBerry need to fix this very soon, and give us an ETA now.
