Prompted to update software.

Hi - bizarely the other day I connected my Z10 (STL100-2) 10.1.0.273 to my laptop and Blackberry Link prompted to update the phone software release to version 10.1.0.273 - so the same version I had installed - anyone else had this?

I chose to update and it appeared to do just that - well it went through the motions and the phone rebooted and seems fine. Just a bit odd as to why it would want to do this in the first place.

Thanks - J.

Re: Prompted to update software.

Hi J,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing an issue with your device.

To clarify, your device was already running 10.1.0.273 yet when you connected it to your computer, you were prompted to update to this same version?

What version of BlackBerry Link are you using?

Is your device now working? Is the software prompting for updates each time you connect to your computer?

I had the same question, ignored.

Re: Prompted to update software.

Hopefully this won't be ignored...

As stated my Z10 was already running 10.1.0.273 I know this because I checked the phone whilst BB Link was on screen telling which version was available.

The phone is working perfectly fine, well apart from several other Z10 related issues that I've posted about. Below are a couple of screen shots showing the version information you require. BB Link is installed on a Compaq CQ10 running Windows 7 Starter.

Re: Prompted to update software.

Hi julian924s,

What you have circled in your screen shots are two different things. One is the device software version and the other is the BlackBerry Link version.

Hope this helps clarify.

Re: Prompted to update software.

But in your first reply you said "What version of BlackBerry Link are you using?" - so is that not what I included?

[ Edited ]

Oh device is working fine. Just connected it to my laptop and started BB Link. At the bottom left of the screen is a tab for my Z10 with an up arrow. Clicking this just shows - Last backup date, Backup & Restore - both of which are greyed out. And Remove Device which I can click. When I connected my Z10 the other day there was also an Update option - this is now no longer there.

**UPDATE, so my Z10 must have been communicating with BB Link and I checked to soon. As now the Backup / Restore options are available and so is the Update option again. Note it's showing the exact same version as is already installed - as mentioned / shown in my previous posts.

Re: Prompted to update software.

Apologies - I did ask for the Link version. Thanks for the info.

Is your device unlocked or did you purchase it from your mobile carrier?

Can you send me a private message with your PIN for investigation?

Thanks!
