Repeatedly getting error message: "Login Information for SMTP has changed", but it hasn't

I get this message a few times a week.  Once I enter in the password it seems to be OK for a few days.  Sometimes I need to reenter the password a few times before it's accepted.  

 

Is there a solution?  Would a new password help?

I get the same thing, though just on one of my email accounts, and it's not as often as you. I see that maybe once a week or so.
