"Blackberry is aware of the issue and has stated that they plan to release a fix in a future software release."
Sounds to be something officially.
Hopefully we have not to wait until autumn for a patch.
You can read the history of this over on the Crackberry thread posted.
This is what people who opened trouble-tickets with their carriers and Blackberry have been told.
I sincerely doubt that the fix will take a long time because it has caused widespread problems for customers and I'm pretty sure it will have a negative impact on the pending release of the Z10 in the US if it is not addressed quickly.

Update 10.0.10.99 available - Vodafone DE :-)
But the problem still exists :-(
That's interesting, because one person who had previously had the SMTP sending issue, after their carrier (in Singapore) released that update, their SMTP sending issue was fixed.
But there may be different variants of different "Software Release" numbers on different carriers. What is the "OS version" on your device? (About/Category/OS)
The person I mention had OS version 10.0.10.738 after the apparent fix.
It's also possible that certain carriers are pushing small patches that don't bump the Software Release number.

I'm not having any interchange problems with sending emails, and I have a custom spam filter that also does interlocking checks against the IMAP server (to prevent imposters from injecting emails) and it's not complaining.
T-Mobile US version here, 10.0.10.85 is the rev that is claimed.

I am getting this exact issue on Google Apps for Domains authenticated connections.
email is unusable for sending.
turning off authentication is a security risk so its not an option

I have had the same problems. Being a mail server administrator myself, I figured this problem happens on Qmail servers, which enforce the check for bare line feeds. I also noticed that due to constant retries to send the queued mails, my BB was running out of battery quickly, and also adding to unwanted data transfer. My server logs showed BB was trying to resend the mail every few minutes.
Seeing the pace of fixes from BB, I instead patched my server to allow bare line feeds. Not a good thing to do, but at least me and my users are mobile again.
