Trapped in Screen Reader!

Today my Z10 decided to go into accessibility mode, including screen reader. I cannot not get to Settings to turn it off, as the screen will not scroll up or down. You can get to certain items by double-tapping, but the "back" item never works. The keyboard is completely non-functional in this mode. I am working on re-installing OS using Link, but not sure it will help. I have re-started the phone several times, pulled the battery, and taken it to Bell who only offered to send it back to BlackBerry to be fixed.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get this reset?

Fixed through Link... phew!

Will leave this here for others who may have the same issue. Use BBLInk to revert to your last backup and it should reset the Accessibility issue.

Re: Trapped in Screen Reader!

Tap the top edge power key three times quickly to disable it.

You should hear "Screen reader off".

Then, go to your Settings > Accessibility > Screen Reader and disable it competely.

Nope, do the above.

I just ran through enabling and disabling it. Tapping the top edge power key three times turns it off.

Re: Trapped in Screen Reader!

Excellent advice, worked perfectly. There is a function in the screen reader menu to disable the three-tap function so it won't enter this mode again accidentaly.

Thank you so much for your assistance!

Quickly as in TAP TAP TAP,

not TAP, wait, TAP, wait, TAP.

Re: Trapped in Screen Reader!

Tried many times, but somehow the 3 taps didnt work for me. Then i tried to run through the menu in Screen Reader mode through Settings > Accessibility > Screen Reader, somehow . The touch was not working and i had to patiently try repeated no. of times to reach the Screen Reader menu.

But thankfully, managed to turn it off after an almost 20 min ordeal. What a relief !!!

Thanks a lot for your inputs. Smiley Happy
