We're having an issue with a BlackBerry Z10 where messages come in marked as 'unread' (i.e. bold text with the yellow envelope) and then after a while (not sure exactly how long), they become 'read', even when they haven't been opened.
Obviously this makes it tricky to make sure that all messages are read.
Is there a setting that needs to be changed, or is this some kind of glitch?
Any advice welcome!

... except that this didn't happen on the BlackBerry Bold, and when they initially come in, they ARE marked as 'unread' - changes to 'read' a shortish while after ... ???

Depending on your sever setup (pop, imap, activesync, etc) you will get different results.
Generally speaking if you are having this issue then something somewhere is marking them "read" on the server, it is not the Z10.
There is some info in this thread about it, as I had the same issue and resolved it by switching all clients (Z10, playbook, and outlook) to IMAP access. Now I have total synchronization between all devices and it is great.
The older Blackberrys used BIS, which is not used on the Z10. BIS did a good job of masking all of these 'issues' that we now see with different email server access setups, but learning the "new way" actually gives you better reconcilliation once you get it all sorted out.
If you have any other questions.. post them here, we'll be glad to try and help!

Many thanks for that, DrewRead. You do seem to have explained the problem - though I'm not sure I can achieve a solution, as I really don't know enough about it to switch from POP to IMAP on Outlook!
