Popping your son's SIM card in should work because that's what identifies your phone to the network. It would be showing a phone without the latest OS (yours) to the network and would then offer the update to you. That would be the easiest way of doing it.
If ever that option is not available to you, you can load an OS update from any carrier worldwide. Details on how to do so can be found in these forums as well as some tutorials on Crackberry.
I hope that helps you.

If the other SIM card doesn't prompt an OS upgrade to 10.2.1.1925 (10.2.1.537) (and it should) , you can also upgrade manually with a PC. Not difficult at all.

My son visited today - swapped his SIM card with mine and instantly ready for update 10.2.1.537 Thanks for all the replies - really can't get my head round why updates are carrier critical - been around \computers for 30 years and you can still update say a graphics driver from ATI even if the PC manufacturers website doesn't carry it
Well...that pretty much can be applied in this case too. You don`t have to wait for your carrier to release the update. You can do it by downloading the leaks.
