I also had a similar issue overnight. But I've determined that it's just poor fitting connection between the blackberry cable, plug, and phone.
Now I make sure to plug it in, see the lightning bolt, and then not move anything.

I have had similar issues. I just got my Z10 yesterday and I noted that sometimes it takes me a while to even get the phone to recognize the charger and for the lightning bolt to show up. Is this an issue with all phones or do I need to talk to my provider?

Your phone will charge when on or off .
A related question - does the Z10 have to be turned on in order to charge it?
