I'm having a very similar, if not the same, problem.


My device was working fine.  Then I dropped it, and the screen blanked out.  Now, I have a blank screen, and the red LED turns on and stays on for an interval before turning off.  I've tried battery pulls, I've tried the hard reset (power + volume buttons) - nothing works.  Any suggestions?
