Re: browser wont open!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:

  • Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
  • BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.

See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Good luck!

Please clarify. Are you able to use the browser via any means? You keep saying WiFi, but nothing about your carrier data plan. Can you clarify if it works via either?

Is there anything that happened just before this behavior started? An update? Any new app? Anything at all? Think carefully...the tiniest thing could be causal. If you can think of something, attempt to undo it.

Are you perhaps on BES/Enterprise? If so, you should also check with your BES admins...maybe they put some sort of restriction in place and didn't tell you.

Otherwise, you'd want to proceed with an OS WIPE, and perhaps even an OS reload. You can do so via LINK or AutoLoader. Make sure you have a good backup.

Good luck!

Re: browser wont open!

i have data on my phone but when i turn it off and attempt to connect to wifi it doesnt work. the browser doesnt work in both cases though, even if im using the data it still does not launch. I can only use the data on my phone, it doesnt even connect to my saved wifi so thats out of the question.

i dont know what triggered this. it was working fine till last night. i didnt install any new apps since a couple weeks.

Re: browser wont open!

I'm sorry, I'm still very confused. You can or cannot use data via your carrier data network? I seem to see both answers in your posts...

I''ve already given you some other things to look at and try (e.g,. BES, WIPE, reload, etc.). Let us know how those work out.
