going crazy Z10 just wont connect

someone, anyone, who understands the z10 please help me to understand what it is that I am doing wrong, as to why I cannot pass stage 4/7 in the data transfer screen.   I have been trying to accomplish this for days (since saturday) and it is now thursday.  My BlackBerry (R) Device Manager will not read or recognise my Z10 so it will not allow me to transfer my data from my torch.  I have spoken to numerous people from my service providers. I have had another new hadset sent to me.  The data transfer cable  USB did not work. (can you beleive that) and so I had to purchase a new cable. And although I have removed and reloaded the blackberry link it still does not read my phone.  someone who understands what is going wrong please help.  Thank you.

Does BlackBerry Link detect your BlackBerry Torch? Have you also tried different USB ports on your computer?
