notification during a phone call

Does anyone know how to get the Z10 to notify of a new message (text, email, etc) during a call?

Re: notification during a phone call

Hey ForrestB,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Thanks for the question.

An audible notification for any messages will not occur if you're on a phone call on the BlackBerry Z10.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers.

Re: notification during a phone call

When will the BB10 notify you during calls, not having this functionality is a major inconvenience.

This is a step back for Blackberry and a major inconvenience for a business user.

Re: notification during a phone call

I love my Z10. Hands down the best touchscreen keyboard. However, this business of no audible notification of a text message while on a phone call is almost a deal breaker. It should at least be an option as it was on previous models. I'm hoping that there will be an upgrade for this feature VERY SOON.

Re: notification during a phone call

I agree, this is crucial to me. I have been a faithful blackberry user forever. The z10 is the "I told you so" bb for me, but this feature gone is a deal breaker for me and business use. 5000+ minutes of cell use for me, I can't afford to mis a text while I'm talking!

Re: notification during a phone call

Echoing your thoughts Kademic...I like the phone however it has a few unexpected quirks - like the contacts app not showing all of your contacts that seem to show up in the phone app, and vice versa - along with the missing notifications. Add in the disappointing Playbook, Link and the overall weaker that expected BlackBerry ecosystem, and Android / Galaxy S4 is looking better all the time!

Re: notification during a phone call

One can always place the call on speaker and check your SMS messages.
Perhaps this will be fixed soon, I don't know.

Re: notification during a phone call

Just hope they bring back some of the old to go with the new. As a die hard BlackBerry man, I don't like the bugs, but I probably with all seriousness can't see leaving them now that they are genuinely trying to get ahead of the game as they were when they first started out. All in all, for a new phone and only 3 complaints for myself, they did pretty good. Just need some quick releases to tweek it and they will have a **bleep** impressive device!
