I'm going to say the exact same thing as other posters but with an explanation.
The time between first ring and cut-off to voicemail is controlled by your carrier. I'm not sure what the default time is with your carrier but any carrier can extend the time to 30 seconds. Calling your carrier (hey, there's that echo again) can resolve this; tell them to extend it to the maximum time they allow.
