Re: random restarts / reboots

my phone has started to random boot again.  turning off wifi seemed to help me for a long time but now it's doing it again.

Currently on Crackberry forum people are exploring the possibility that restarts are caused by a poor fitting battery. Have not read every post here and maybe you have explored as well.

Re: random restarts / reboots

It's not a poor fitting battery. I have three different batteries, reboots on all.

Re: random restarts / reboots

I did not have a reboot last night like I did for 3 nights. I did, however, reboot the phone myself yesterday. Perhaps that was sufficient.

I suggest you read the thread.  I'm skeptical but some are having good luck shimming the battery.  And because all your batteries reboot... that disproves it how?  There was a similar issue on certain Motorola Defys whereby some batteries did not meet specs and were loose causing reboots.

Re: random restarts / reboots

Shimming the battery didn't do anything for me.

Re: random restarts / reboots

So, I was talking to T-mobile about an urelated issue with my phone. Unable to help, the tech got BlackBerry on the other line. I took the opportunity to ask, again, what could be causing my phone to reboot. The BlackBerry rep told the tech that it is software related, there is an update to fix this, and I should check for Updates. Upon querying for an update, my phone was shown to already have the latest software (at least on my carrier, I suppose). So that was no help to me. Smiley Sad

The above news regarding it being a software issue is nothing that folks haven't arleady posted about. However, T-mobile offered to exchange the phone for this and another issue, so I'm taking them up on it. Perhaps I'll be one of those random lucky folks who get new devices with no reboot issue, though I'm not counting on it. We shall see!

Curious if these reboot times correlate with anyone elses'   We're on Daylight Saving Time so this is UTC -4 hours.

Reply from BlackBerry support:

"We were able to confirm that the cause of your device resetting is something related to the software. Based on the information submitted from the device, this will be resolved by a software update for the device. Unfortunately, there is not a current ETR for when the update will be available. We encourage you to check ' Software Updates' in the settings of you Z10, and apply them as available."

Guess we hafta wait and see...hopefully they address it soon.

Re: random restarts / reboots

I'm sorry but that's the equivalent of jingling keys in front of a baby's eyes to shut it up. No substance whatsoever. Sigh, I'm a longtime BB user but this is wearing thin. It's no wonder so many want to see them fail. Reminds me of that song 'Dirty Laundry' Smiley Sad
