We purchased a TDK A33 wireless bluetooth speaker, well built, sound is great, range and play life excellent. Only issue, Z30, nor our Z10 will become master to control the volume remotely. Ridiculous!
Z30/Z10 will control volume on Sony SRS-BTX300 speaker, Craig BT speaker, Pioneer BT car stereo, but not the TDK A33. Other platform devices do work in controlling volume on the A33, but Z30/Z10 doesn't. The A33 will 'beep' when trying to remotely adjust volume with Z30/Z10, as if it wants to work, but the volume level doesn't change. If we press the 'decrease' volume rocker on the Z30/Z10 multiple times, the A33 will 'beep' each time and eventually 'mute', but won't incrementally adjust the volume level. The 'mute' buttons on the Z30/Z10 will also 'mute' the A33.
Yes, the Z30/Z10 and A33 support the same BT profiles, so it would seem it shouldn't be an issue. TDK support and engineering believes it should indeed work. We currently have a BlackBerry Music Gateway hooked up to the A33 through the aux jack and NFC connect to it, allowing us to remotely control the volume, but, this defeats the purpose of having a wireless BT speaker, as the Gateway itself, or the A33 needs to be connected to an AC outlet for it to work this way.
This would appear to be an issue caused on the BlackBerry side, TDK support agrees.
BlackBerry, please fix this BT master volume control issue!
