Microphone problems z30

Hello!

I am having a very odd problem with my z30.  I've only had the phone for a few months.  All of a sudden, I am having audio problems.  Last weekend, I bbm video'd my sister and she could not hear me at all.  I tried all the sound/mute settings to no avail.  Then yesterday, I took a video of my daughter and there was no audio.  I couldn't figure out why this problem only pops up randomly but I figured out that it seems to be when the phone is held vertically.  If I hold the phone horizontally, the audio works!  Also, when I'm calling people on a regular phone call, I have had no problems.  I read a whole bunch of forums so I've already tried pushing the volume buttons and power button at the same time.  I also tried the bbve app on blackberry world....which told me that I might have a problem with the microphone.  I am hoping this is not a hardware problem as I already sent the first phone back due to hardware issues.  Please help.

Have you tried skyping or making any phone calls?

Yes, beckyball stated she could make phone calls fine.

@beckyball does it appear only to be a problem when using the external micrphone, not the "phone" micophone?

And only when held vertically?

I haven't tried this, but using BBVE, can you hold the device horizontally to run the external microphone test and see if it succeeds?

Re: Microphone problems z30

Hello and thanks for the reply.  I have done the bbve and no matter how I hold the phone, it fails the audio record/microphone test.  The @blackberryhelp on twitter has suggested to contcat my carrier after failing the bbve.  Here's the odd thing:  My speaker phone when making regular calls works perfectly fine, and I was holding it vertically and horizontally.  I assume that BBM video and my speaker phone function would use the same external microphone???

Re: Microphone problems z30

I deleted skype app before i'd even used it because I had recently added it before the BBM video problem started and was concerned the app could have caused problems with the bbm video. Yes, I can make regular phone calls (even with the speaker phone function) just fine.

Contacting Rogers might be the best solution then.
