Spellchecker in Mozilla Firefox

Context

  • The BlackBerry Support Community Forums rely on the Lithium engine.
  • the Lithium engine is a web forum code, that uses some open source software, like TinyMCE.
  • TinyMCE is a WYSIWYG text input (what you see is what you get), that allows users to write and format their messages easily.
  • for some reasons, TinyMCE as it is implemented by Lithium deactivates the spellchecker in Mozilla Firefox: users have to manually activate it (by right clicking on the text area and selecting the entry at the bottom of the dropdown menu). More information can be found here: http://drupal.org/node/278970

*****

Goodness

I provide a way of activating the spellchecker automatically, with the same behavior as any other website with a form.

Here are the requirements:

  1. install Mozilla Firefox
  2. install the GreaseMonkey addon
  3. install my GreaseMonkey script http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/105516

Re: Spellchecker in Mozilla Firefox

I have just released version 3 : now works for "edit a message" page and "post a new message" page.

To update, please go to first message of the discussion and simply install the script again.
