Able to set Timezone in app or save in simulator?

Having to handset the timezone each time we run a test/debug on the simulator is mistake-prone and tiring.

I'm pretty sure there's no way to set the timezone in the fledge options (should be added!), so is there a way for my app to set the timezone ?   Even if it has to ask the user for permission, that would be better than nothing.

Re: Able to set Timezone in app or save in simulator?

There is no way to configure this outside of the BlackBerry Simulator, nor is there any API that provides the ability to set the time zone.  You need to do this by going into the Date/Time options of the BlackBerry Simulator once it has started up.

Re: Able to set Timezone in app or save in simulator?

An API was introduced in 4.6.0 to allow you to set the time zone programmatically:

private void testDateFunction(){

        // store the original time zone

        TimeZone originalTimeZone = TimeZone.getDefault();
        TimeZone atlantic = TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/Halifax");
        Device.setTimeZone( atlantic );
        < do test here>

        // set the device back to the original timezone
        Device.setTimeZone( originalTimeZone );
