Re: Android app player can run java apps?

what does it take to convert an android app to playbook app? Is it as simple as using a RIM provided tool to convert apk to bar? or something else? Can anyone provide a peek?  thanks.

Re: Android app player can run java apps?

"In any case, RIMs information policy on these absolutely crucial matters (for us developers) is not understandable for me.
Maybe they think that, if they gain all the android developers, the few thousand BB-OS developers will not be missed."

I agree with this. Even though I have many BB java apps out there, I'm not totally against a move to eliminate the BB java player option from BBX. They're obviously struggling greatly with the multi-device PIN issue and likely need as much manpower as possible to solve it.

That being said, if you do plan to ditch it, please let us know. Earlier this year in a webcast, the team assured us that BBX would include a Java BB player. If that has changed, all we want is to be notified of that change so that we can alter our development plans for the future.

Re: Android app player can run java apps?

Hi Riley,

BB Java has been officially dropped by RIM.

It was announced at Devcon over a month ago.

Thanks,

Re: Android app player can run java apps?

Was it officially announced? I thought it was just implied to Simon?
