Any other way for development if there is no java API?

Hi, expert,

Right now, we are trying find out if we could set the passcode policies, configure vpn profiles and  configure email accounts on blackberry programatically.

For setting passcode policies, it is confirmed that there is no API: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Is-there-API-to-change-the-password-policy-a... .

For configure email, I saw this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5496885/set-up-a-non-blackberry-email-account-on-blackberry-devic... and http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Setting-up-non-BB-email-account-on-a-Blackbe.... Both say that there is no API to do so.

for VPN profile, this post http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Create-VPN-profile-and-VPN-settings-programa... dosn't get any reply.  And this post http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Virtual-Private-Network-VPN-connection-quest... said that there is no API to configure VPN profile.

So it doesn't look good at all. Just wonder if there is any other way if there is no java api for development. There are some vendors who could really do more, like this company: http://www.astrasync.com/, they could enforce the exchange polices.

One way I could think of is to use EventInjection from our application into blackberry email configuration UI (which we would try to start as well). Not sure about the passcode policies though.

It would be really appreciated if any one has any points or thoughts for research which we would look into for future investigation.  Is there any unpublished API from RIM which some vendor get access to (such as http://www.astrasync.com/)?

Re: Any other way for development if there is no java API?

I was also looking for setting/configuring the following using device level api's on the BB -

1. Wifi AccessPoints provisioning

2.  VPN

3. Configuring email & Passcode policies.

Essentially enterprise grade configurations using device api in case of absence of a BES to do this.

There seems to be no api's for accessing any of these.

May be if someone can confirm if its the same with the newer BB 7.0 too ?

Thanks

Re: Any other way for development if there is no java API?

I am going to close this thread since it looks like that there is no other way for this if there is no java API.
