(I'm a noob at developing apps for the blackberry)
I don't know why the HelloWorld app from the tutorial does not show up in my simulator. The simulator boots, but there's nothing under the "Downloads" button from the menu, and the app doesn't show up either under "Applications." I'm using the Eclipse plug-in and the JDE component package version 4.7. I also went into the Blackberry Project Properties -> Application tab, and made sure that "System module" is unchecked. I also tried checking "Auto-run on startup", but nothing happened when the simulator started...
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

You don't need to check "Auto-run on startup".
Just make sure your project is active.
a) Project -> Set Active Projects ... -> check your project
b) or Project Properties -> General tab -> check "always make project active.
Now after ruuning you should see your application in the download directory.
Also check this helloworld example of tbilisoft.
