App not working on WiFi

[ Edited ]

I developed a J2ME application (LWUIT) to work with blackberry. I am not in a dataplan and not even having a sim card. My device is connected to WiFi internet and i could able to browse through the blackberry browser. But I could not test the app as wifi internet is not connecting to the app. Could you please explain me why..? I was using aerize wifix to hack into wifi internet to third party apps and now it expites. How my app will work in real time through wifi..?

Re: App not working on WiFi

Hi @fremyjose

Did you add the 'interface=wifi' to your URL?

Check out this link:

Do you get any errors when you are trying to connect?

Re: App not working on WiFi

Thanks for your great help.

I was not added the  'interface=wifi' to my URL, so that may the issue now i added below code.

if ((WLANInfo.getWLANState() == WLANInfo.WLAN_STATE_CONNECTED) && RadioInfo .areWAFsSupported(RadioInfo.WAF_WLAN)) {
httpURL += ";interface=wifi";
Please tell me is this enough for me to make my app run on blackberry data plan as well as on wifi..?

Re: App not working on WiFi

The 'interface=wifi' addition will help you connect using the WIFI transport (when available).

If you wish to enable your application connect using other transport (BIS, BES, WAP, etc'), you should check the link I sent you and add the correct parameter for each transport type.

For further reading, I recommend you also take a look in the following links:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Network-Transports/ta-p/446834

http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/5.0.0api/net/rim/device/api/io/transport/ConnectionFactory...

The ConnectionFactory API could help you to create the connection(s) you need with few easy steps but it has some issues (search the forum for ConnectionFactory).

Hope that helps,

E.
