Audio recording encoding question

When you specify encoding=pcm during creation ot player for audio capturing is the audio PCM linear encoded or µ-law encoded?

The only thing I found in the docs is this:

"8kHz mono-16-bit Pulse Code Modulation (PCM)"

Re: Audio recording encoding question

not all BB can record PCM format but all of can record in AMR format.

I have not idea why RIM doesnt support PCM on all bb.  that is really sad

Re: Audio recording encoding question

I'm facing the same issue.. I want to be able to capture and play directly in a-law and u-law format.

Capturing AMR and PCM is no problem, however the correct capture string for capturing u-law data is unknown to me.

anyone more info on this?
