BB JDE: Font smoothing in editor window

Hello everybody,
is there anyone out there who is equally annoyed by the non-existent font smoothing within the BlackBerry JDE?
I'm suspecting this is because the JDE uses standard Java controls for compatibility reasons instead of anti-aliasing supported OS components.
There is a similar issue in NetBeans which can be fixed by manually editing certain configuration files. However, I have not found a way to adjust the internal font smoothing of the JDE editor.
For the sake of avoiding headaches (this is 2010!), I would greatly appreciate any hints on how to fix this.
Cheers!

You could switch to eclipse.  Smiley Happy

I have done that, indeed Smiley Happy

Which makes me wonder why the JDE standalone still exists.

Some sort of backwards compatibility?

RIM has said that the JDE will be slowly phased out.
