Background process terminated when phone is in holster

I encountered the following problem which leaves me really puzzled.

I have an application which has 2 entry points, one is a background process and the second to be the application itself (UI).

Everything is working fine, the UI send requests to the background process which handles the communication and push messages.

Now to the problem: when I put the phone in the holster (leather case) the background process is terminated.

I see the following two printouts in the debugger:

Exit MyApp(170)

Detected background switch for MyApp(170) who has NO tunnels open - defocus NOT called

Any idea's why this happens or how to debug this?

is there any way to simulate this on a simulator?

This occurs on a 9000 phone (tested only on one), testing it on sever 9700 did not show this behavior.

Re: Background process terminated when phone is in holster

Are you 100% sure that holstering actually caused the problem?  I would check that, perhaps on the SImulator?

I don't think that the message is a failing message anyway.
