Can I control the "flash" LED?

I was wondering if there is an API to turn on/off the "flash" LED. I saw the LED class, but it doesn't have a constant for the flash, just the trackball and the status LEDs.

Re: Can I control the "flash" LED?

How about:

 LED.setState(LED.STATE_OFF);

Re: Can I control the "flash" LED?

For monochromatic LED's

LED.setConfiguration(ON_TIME,OFF_TIME, LED.BRIGHTNESS_50); LED.setState(LED.STATE_BLINKING);

ON_TIME and OFF_TIME expressed im ms.

The docs say that will set the Status LED. There is a setState that takes 2 ints (one is the LED to set), but there is no constant for the flash LED. I'm just wondering if I missed something and there is another way.

I believe the original question was asking whether it's possible to programmatically control the camera's flash.  That is not possible yet.

Yes, sorry. I misunderstood the question.

There are no APIs in the BlackBerry API set that allow you to control the camera flash on a BlackBerry handheld.

I was looking forward to writing a small app to turn my Storm into a torche (or flashlight for U Americans) to help me find the keyhole at my door when I'm drunk ;D

Any Chance that this might be avalible in future releases of the API set? After all it's not that critical in terms of security, or is it?

Re: Can I control the "flash" LED?

I'm replying to this thread as I believe it hasn't been 'solved'.

There is a high demand for that super-bright LED(camera flash) included in many blackberries. It's an incredibly useful piece of hardware, and we would love to leverage it in our apps.

Have any work-arounds been found to activate the flash?

Does RIM have intentions of giving us access through their API to this?
