Cannot download JREs via the Eclipse update site - Nagging password

I'm opening a new topic on this because the previous topic is marked as "solved" when it isn't. Here are the symptoms:

- You have installed the BlackBerry Eclipse "plugin" v1.3

- You try to install the JREs (4.5.0 to 5.0.0) via the update site (http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.6/java)

- The updater prompts you for your Developer Zone login details which you enter correctly

- The updater continually prompts you to enter your login details until it fails with a "Too many failed login attempts" message

- You can verify that your login details are correct by copying the URL in the error message into a browser.

- You will then receive a browser security warning, which if you continue will allow you to download the JAR file BUT, as of 5 mins ago this failed after downloading only 38k of the file.

Anyone else having the same issue? Or know of a workaround?

Re: Cannot download JREs via the Eclipse update site - Nagging password

Hi guys !

I have the same issue... I'm trying to download an older version of JRE, but when I try to login, the system rejects...

I'm entering my devzone account, with my e-mail as login. Any idea?

Thanks a lot...

Re: Cannot download JREs via the Eclipse update site - Nagging password

Have you noticed that if you try to access the files by the browser and enter the login, you can download the files ?. It seems to be an application bug with login procedure.

Please, some help needed ...

Re: Cannot download JREs via the Eclipse update site - Nagging password

Can anyone actually download the full (around 140MB) jar files through the browser? If so, that's a start. I can't get more than 38K of the download.

I come from related thread http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Unable-to-download-SDK/td-p/574211 will start following this now.

I too am having the same issues, and, as stated by iced_byte, by browser I can authenticate successfully and download the files, whereas with eclipse it fails.

Edit1: removed () around related thread url so it opens up fine now instead of having ) at the end

Re: Cannot download JREs via the Eclipse update site - Nagging password

I'm surprised that RIM aren't addressing this quicker because as it stands new developers cannot develop for any devices with <OS6.0.

As a test I tried uninstalling the 4.5.0 JRE (which I don't use) from my current development environment (Eclipse Galileo v3.5) and re-installing it using http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.5/java. Exactly the same problem.

Just a thought but could be to do with the fact that the jars are hosted on a different domain to blackberry.com (they're on akamai I believe)?
