Summary

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Desktop Manager
  • BlackBerry Java™ Development Environment (JDE)
  • Procedure

    The BlackBerry JDE contains a Microsoft® Visual Studio® 6.0 C++ sample application that demonstrates the creation and use of a BlackBerry Desktop Manager Add-In. This sample application requires the installation of both BlackBerry JDE and Desktop Manager. If Desktop Manager is not installed in its default location, the sample project must be updated accordingly.

    The Desktop project must be linked against the desktopapi.tlb file in order to compile. If BlackBerry JDE and Desktop Manager are installed in their default locations, the project does not need to be configured, as it will know where to find the desktopapi.tlb file. Otherwise, follow these instructions before attempting to compile:

    1. Locate the desktopapi.tlb file on your personal computer. The default location is C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry
    2. On line 29 of the Desktop.idl file, change the path argument of the importlib statement to reflect the location of the desktopapi.tlb file.
    3. In the Microsoft Visual C++ window, click Project > Settings.
    4. In the Settings For drop-down list, select All Configurations.
    5. Click the C/C++ tab.
    6. In the Category drop-down list, select Preprocessor.
    7. Change the path in the Additional include directories window to reflect the location of the desktopapi.tlb file.
