Detect Screen Transition

I am coding a screenshare application, I have spent a lot of time trying to get optimum performance by detecting change in squares and only sending these changes. (I have a thread open which I'm still hoping to get information for)

The problem I am seeing now if the screenshot loop is sometimes capturing a faded out version of the screen the phone is popping so really it is a wasted frame to send to client which affects time to display.

I suspect there is no way to get the information i'm after using the api but what if the image data was analyzed - could this transition be detected or maybe getActiveScreen() - is there anything there that could help detect if a transition is in progress?

Thanks for any suggestions.
