Does blackberry support RPC over HTTPS?

My environment:

BlackBerry 9000. V4.6.0.162 (Platform

Eclipse blackberry JDE component package 4.6.1

I can make a httpsconnection to certain url and get the html page for the service

But if I use a stub (javax.xml.rpc.Stub) with the end point same as the url I use for httpsConnection, whenever I make a webservice call using the stub I get:

java.rmi.MarshalException: Either SOAP Body or SOAP Envelope is missing

I am wondering maybe RPC over https is not supported on blackberry? has anyone used it before?

The above happens on actual device. I can also use browser to browse the url.
