Error received when attempting to create a new project

Summary

 

This article applies to the following:

 

  • BlackBerry® Java Development Plug-in for Eclipse®

 

 

Problem

 

When attempting to create a new project in the BlackBerry Java Development Plug-in for Eclipse the following error is received:

 

The BlackBerry JDE path settings must be set before the plug-in feature can be used.

Cause 1

 

No BlackBerry JDE Component Packs are set to be used within Eclipse®.

Resolution 1

 

Set a default BlackBerry JDE Component Pack by completing the following steps:

  1. In the error message, click Set BlackBerry JDE Path or in Eclipse, click Window > Preferences.
  2. Expand BlackBerry JDE.
  3. Click Installed Components.
  4. Choose one of the installed BlackBerry JDE Component Packs from the drop-down list in main window.
  5. Click OK.

Note: If the error BlackBerry Components were not found appears, proceed to resolution 2.

Cause 2

 

No BlackBerry JDE Component Packs are installed.

Resolution 2

 

Download and install at least one BlackBerry JDE Component Pack. Information on how to acquire these can be found here:
